Case Study #1

Bulging discs, sciatica, and undiagnosed post-natal imbalances.

The Story

Healing my own back pain is the origin story of Centered by Leslie. I was post-natal with my second child and busy running after a toddler while also breast-feeding and working as a scientist. I had undiagnosed post-natal imbalances, as many women do. I also had mild scoliosis from birth. All this was a huge load on my system and it was important to me to maintain my health to meet the demands in my life.

When I injured my back weight-lifting, I was completely debilitated. I couldn't lift my kids, walk my dog or carry groceries. Even doing the dishes and removing wet laundry felt like torture! It seemed like all functional activities were impossible and the pain was escalating. My sciatic nerve and SI joint were sending strong signals.

I sought out modalities such as physical therapy, acupuncture, massage, muscular integration, and pilates. I was already a yoga teacher of 15-years, but my practice seemed to be making it worse. It was as if everything I loved was no longer possible. I knew I was being challenged to grow and make a huge change.

The Results

I created a holistic approach and it didn't take long until the pain diminished and the imbalances started to reset. I became pain-free by creating strategies that:

  • balanced suppleness and strength

  • enhanced posture

  • addressed physical and energetic roots of pain

  • re-centered and re-connected me with my inner wisdom

Case Study #2

Unresolved back pain, sciatica, and three pregnancies.

The Story

Olivia is a lawyer with three children who had back pain prior to birthing her children. It was never resolved and the stress and demands of work and family life were making the pain worse.

When she started working with me, Olivia was in a lot of pain. She was sleeping poorly, couldn't play with her kids, or enjoy the activities she loved. Travel and car trips were difficult but necessary, though her pain was becoming more chronic.

She had sought out modalities such as physical therapy, massage, muscular integration, and yoga. She felt as though nothing was working.

The Results

Olivia dove into the custom strategies designed for her and it didn't take long to observe improvements. In addition to the pain dissolving, she noticed:

  • enhanced physical and mental strength

  • improved sleep

  • retrained movement patterns

  • proactive postural awareness

Case Study #3

Neck and upper back injury with referred nerve pain.

The Story

Poppy is retired and an avid gardener. She was experiencing pain in her neck and shoulder and referred nerve pain down her arm. As time went on, she wasn't able to enjoy gardening without pain and tingling sensations. She wasn't sleeping well and it was uncomfortable to lie on the injured side of the body.

She had sought out modalities such as physical therapy, Rolfing, and massage. She wasn't able to confidently repeat her physical therapy exercises at home and was becoming frustrated with lack of improvement.

The Results

Poppy and I did weekly sessions together and she used custom videos in between sessions. She experienced improvement right away. During her healing arc she noticed:

  • complete healing of her referred pain and localized pain

  • improved sleep

  • better range of motion and comfort during activities

  • enhanced posture and strength
